We use the Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED professional grade
film scanners for all 35 mm film scans above 2500 DPI.
We have tested the scanner
extensively for quality, consistency, and speed. It proved to be
superior to the older Nikon 35mm scanners as well as competing
film- and flatbed scanners. The major improvements in the Nikon
5000 ED compared to older Nikon scanners are faster scan times, a
broader dynamic range, a higher bit-depth, and the image
enhancement technology of
Digital ICE4.
Digital ROC™ automatically
rebuilds and restores deteriorated color values for faithfully
rendered images. Digital GEM™
reduces the effects of film grain, producing sharp, clear images
without clumping or graininess. The newly added Digital DEE™ uses
exposure compensation to help reveal details that may be hidden in
shadowy or highlighted portions of scenes. The 5000 is fast and
produces suburb consistant results. We are currently scanning more
than 80,000 pictures a month with the help of Nikon scanners.
Since the Nikon Super Coolscan is faster than other scanners,
we are able to offer you extremely low scanning prices, faster
turnaround times, and the highest possible quality (other than
expensive and time consuming drum scans).
For unmounted 110 film and medium format film we use
Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED professional grade film
scanners. This model is very similar to the 5000 except that it's
designed for larger film types. Again, this scanner does an
excellent job.
For prints and 4x5 inch film we are
using Epson Perfection 4990 Pro scanners. This is the
latest professional scanner from Epson and has received excellent
reviews by professional trade magazines as well as users. We fully
agree and have just replaced the older Epson 3200 and Epson 4270
scanners with the Epson 4990. It offers
Digital ICE technology,
which helps remove dust and scratches from the pictures.
If
offers resolution of 4800 dpi as well as even higher optical scan
resolutions. We use this scanner for prints, 120/220 film and
35mm negative strips and dias where the clients wants a resolution
of less than 2500 DPI. |
